The idea of STL Optometry initially sprouted in Dr. Kelly Kao’s mind back in 2011. By then, she had graduated from UC Berkeley School of Optometry (UCBSO), completed her residency in Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation at SUNY College of Optometry, and returned to the Bay Area to practice optometry.
Dr. Kao worked four different jobs as clinical faculty at UCBSO, a vision researcher at Google, an optometrist at a group practice, and an optometric missionary for a non-profit she founded. The organization seeks to serve the underprivileged around the world by providing healthcare, public health education, and catechesis. Dr. Wang and Dr. Lai served with Dr. Kao on the 2014 Taiwan mission trip (pictured below).
Dr. Kao eventually left these jobs to focus on her non-profit full-time as a missionary. After three years, Dr. Kao finally felt it was time for her to also serve the people of the Silicon Valley and build up a rehabilitation practice.
As Silicon Valley’s Advanced Vision and Therapy Center, we are here to provide exceptional and specialized eye care in an open and comfortable environment. We strive to help you experience the world through vision like never before. At STL Optometry, we are here to serve you like you are family.
Additionally, we promote goodness by sending our doctors on missions, supporting companies that donate glasses to the underserved, providing pro bono services for those that cannot afford it, and mentoring the next generation of eye care professionals.
We are so delighted you chose us to care for your eyes and we hope that, together, we can work to spread good to all those we encounter.
All the frames we carry are from charitable organizations that help those in need.
For every frame ordered, 141 Eyewear gives a new pair of prescription glasses to a person in need. No portions of proceeds. No percentages. You buy, they give. 141.
It’s not every day that the choices you make can immediately change someone’s life. Something as small as a pair of glasses has the power to change a person’s life and open up a whole new world of possibilities.
Your glasses order gives sight to a person in need. 1 pair of glasses = sight for 1 person.
Tom’s optical frames improve your sight AND help restore sight to others by financially supporting full eye exams, sight-saving surgeries, prescription glasses, and medical treatment for those less fortunate.
Every year since Eyes of Faith® was established in 2008, thousands of people have received eye care and a message of hope during Wear & Share® optical missions.
Utilizing the world’s leading fashion forecasting, Eyes of Faith® designs exquisite frames that embody the latest trends, with a scripture verse printed on the inside of the temple arm, to uplift you everyday.
